Kathmandu, 30 May — The ICC has taken the step to suspend Cricket Canada due to violations of membership duties. The suspension was implemented while ensuring that the players’ interests remain central, allowing national teams to compete in ICC tournaments during this time.
The ICC will provide financial support to Cricket Canada for managing and developing national team programs. However, this funding will be strictly allocated to ICC-approved projects and will be directly monitored by the ICC.
Cricket Canada is required to resolve its administrative and governance challenges and meet the ICC’s conditions for reinstatement. The ICC’s normalization committee and management team will oversee the implementation and progress of these requirements. Only when all conditions are fully satisfied will Cricket Canada’s membership be reinstated, according to the ICC.
Notably, Cricket Canada is set to host an important series of the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 in the near future. Recently, Monty Desai was appointed as the head coach of the Canadian national team.
