Purna Bahadur Khadka’s Perspective on the Dispute Over Active Membership in the Nepali Congress

May 31, Kathmandu – Purna Bahadur Khadka, the outgoing Acting President of the Nepali Congress, has firmly stated that active memberships distributed before and after Poush 10 (December 25) must be upheld. In a press release issued on Monday concerning active memberships, he expressed his commitment to make the 15th General Convention a convention of unity and emphasized that everyone should feel assured regarding the membership issue.

“We are committed to conducting the Nepali Congress’s 15th General Convention as a convention of complete unity. The renewal and distribution of active memberships for the party’s 15th General Convention was largely finalized by Poush 10, 2082 BS (December 25, 2025),” Khadka said in the statement. He further added that it is necessary to provide memberships to all those who missed renewing, wish to renew, or want to acquire new active memberships during that period.

Furthermore, he clarified that he is resolutely committed to ensuring the participation of all members who renewed or were newly registered by Poush 10, as well as those who renewed or obtained new memberships afterward, in the 15th General Convention.
