May 31, Kathmandu — A man has been arrested for calling traffic police and exerting undue pressure by falsely claiming to be a member of parliament.
The arrested individual, Lok Bahadur Tamang, 36, hails from Majhitar, Ward No. 7, Kamalamai Municipality, Sindhuli. He identified himself as Dhanendra Karki, the member of parliament representing Sindhuli constituency no. 1, when contacting traffic police.
Inspector Ujwal Karki of the Sindhuli District Police Office stated that Tamang was arrested for attempting to influence traffic officers by giving a false identity and applying pressure.
Following a complaint of misconduct, Tamang is currently under investigation with a seven-day remand authorized from Monday.
