NEPSE Rises to 2780 Points, Non-life Insurance Sector Shows Growth

The NEPSE index increased by 2.66 points to reach 2780 points, while the share trading volume hit NPR 573 crore. Following the budget’s doubling of third-party insurance coverage, the non-life insurance sector index rose by 3.37 percent. Kalinchowk Hydropower’s share price surged the most, up by 14.99 percent, whereas Nepal Reinsurance’s price declined by 5.18 percent.

After gaining 22.21 points the previous day, the stock market increased by only 2.66 points on Wednesday. With this rise, the NEPSE index closed at 2780 points. The market experienced mild fluctuations throughout the day. Share prices of 149 companies increased, 116 companies saw a decrease, and 6 companies remained stable. Trading volume showed growth, reaching NPR 573 crore compared to NPR 526 crore the previous day.

The financial sector had been buoyant the day before, posting a 6 percent increase. However, today the non-life insurance sector attracted more investor attention, rising by 3.37 percent. This increase brought the non-life insurance sector to its highest level since 18th April. The budget’s decision to double third-party insurance coverage limits to NPR 1 million has bolstered confidence in the non-life insurance business and driven greater investor interest.
