Nepal Secures Comprehensive 51-Run Victory Over Bhutan in ACC Women’s Premier Cup

Nepal registered their second consecutive win in the ACC Women’s Premier Cup by defeating Bhutan by 51 runs. Chasing a target of 114 set by Nepal, Bhutan managed only 62 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Sita Rana Magar top-scored for Nepal with 37 runs, while Rubina Khatri led the bowling attack with 3 wickets.

Kathmandu, 4 June – Nepal maintained their winning momentum with a significant triumph over Bhutan in Thursday’s match of the ACC Women’s Premier Cup. After setting a target of 114, Nepal restricted Bhutan to 62 runs for 8 wickets in their full quota of 20 overs. For Bhutan, Dechen Wangmo was the highest scorer with an unbeaten 39 runs, supported by Chado Om’s 11 runs, while other players failed to reach double figures.

On the bowling front for Nepal, Rubina Khatri took 3 wickets conceding only 15 runs in 4 overs. Riya Sharma contributed 2 wickets, and both Kavita Kunwar and Manisha Upadhyay claimed 1 wicket each. Nepal, having lost the toss and asked to bat first, were bowled out for 113 in 20 overs. Sita Rana Magar once again was the top scorer with 37 runs. Rubina Khatri scored 24 runs, followed by Soni Pakhrin with 13 and Samjhana Khadka with 10. Nepal struggled initially, being 47-6 in the 10th over and 67-7 in the 13th over.

Sita Rana Magar and Rubina Khatri formed a vital 40-run partnership for the eighth wicket. When Sita was dismissed, Nepal’s score stood at 107-8. Subsequently, Nepal lost their last two wickets while adding just 6 runs in 15 balls. For Bhutan, Sonam and Chiring Jangmo took 3 wickets each. Captain Anju Gurung took 2 wickets, while Ritsi Choden and Riya Pradhan secured 1 wicket each. Nepal had defeated Qatar in their opening match on Wednesday. Next, Nepal will face Hong Kong on Saturday.
