Government Committed to Good Governance and Rapid Economic Growth: Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal

Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal stated that the government is firmly committed to good governance and rapid economic development. He remarked, “The expectations of our citizens have changed, and to fulfill these aspirations, it is essential to adopt new approaches different from traditional methods.” Minister Khanal emphasized that social organizations can work effectively only after local governments are strengthened.

On May 21, in Kathmandu, during a development debate program held in Lalitpur on Thursday, he made these remarks. Minister Khanal stressed the importance of cooperation among all stakeholders to address the changing expectations of citizens. He said, “It is necessary to concretely advance sustainable development partnerships to achieve the shared goal of making the country prosperous.”

He added that through the involvement of international development partners, Nepal’s national interests would be promoted. According to Minister Khanal, the government is prepared to strengthen collaboration with development partners further, mobilize international assistance, and effectively represent Nepal’s voice and priorities in regional and multilateral forums. He further stated, “Our citizens’ expectations have evolved, and to meet them, working beyond traditional methods is essential. The government is ready to cooperate with AIN with renewed energy to achieve the shared goal of prosperity.”

Minister Khanal also noted that social organizations and other institutions can perform effectively only after local governments are empowered. He underscored the need for development partners to work more actively to ensure the success of national efforts promoting sustainable peace, development, and prosperity.
