Former Minister Aryal Emphasizes Prioritizing Efficiency and Creativity in Democracy

Former Minister Om Prakash Aryal stated that in a democratic system, fostering an environment of efficiency and creativity is more important than mere promotion. He highlighted that democracy and republicanism have opened doors of opportunity for all and stressed that no one should be humiliated without basis. According to him, any action against mistakes or shortcomings should be taken only on the basis of evidence. 22 Jestha, Kathmandu.
Addressing a workshop held in Kathmandu on Friday, he gave the example of employees who were in the sixth tier of the civil service some time ago and are now not only members of parliament but also ministers, emphasizing that everyone currently has equal opportunities. He expressed the view that no one should be humiliated without foundation, and that everyone should be given the ‘benefit of the doubt.’
Discussing the working style of the Home Administration, he asserted that the administration criticizes or initiates action only based on proof. He said, ‘In a republic and democracy, the doors of possibilities are open to all. No one should humiliate others. Everyone should be given the benefit of the doubt. If mistakes or weaknesses occur, action should be taken based on evidence. But forward movement does not happen when accusations are made without basis, humbling others in the process.’
Expressing concern that humiliation and blame still persist in society, Former Minister Aryal expressed his belief that such tendencies will naturally cease as democracy strengthens. He also conveyed expectations that the current government will give special attention to this issue, leading to further improvements in the political and administrative environment in the days ahead.
