May 5, Kathmandu – The Nepal Layers Poultry Farmers Association has once again raised the farm support price of eggs.
The association, which had previously set prices effective from May 1, revised the prices within 11 days and set new rates starting Saturday.
In a physical and virtual meeting of producers held today in Kathmandu, the decision to increase egg prices was made based on rates from Chitwan.
Under the new decision, egg prices of all sizes have been raised by NPR 15 per crate. Each crate contains 30 eggs.
The price of XL eggs at farm level is now NPR 560 per crate, up from NPR 545 previously.
Similarly, the large egg price has increased to NPR 545 from NPR 530 per crate. Medium eggs have also gone up to NPR 515 per crate from NPR 500.
For small eggs, the price has changed from NPR 400 per crate to NPR 3,000 per petti (a different packaging unit).
Although farmers’ farm support prices have increased, retail prices for consumers remain unchanged at NPR 25 per egg, according to the association.
