Three Panels to Compete in Nepal Foreign Employment Entrepreneurs Association Election

A total of 51 candidates from three panels have registered to contest the Nepal Foreign Employment Entrepreneurs Association election scheduled for Jestha 24. The election features former presidents Meghnath Bhurtel, former first vice president Dick Bahadur Khatri, and Haribahadur Pandey leading their respective panels as competitors. Following growing dissatisfaction with the outgoing president’s leadership style, the Kathmandu District Administration Office dissolved the committee and directed a special general assembly and election to be held.
Three panels have been declared for the Nepal Foreign Employment Entrepreneurs Association election. After the committee was dissolved by the District Administration Office, three panels will compete in the special general assembly and election set for tomorrow (Jestha 24). It is reported that all three panels maintain allegiance to Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, Nepal Communist Party, and the Rastriya Swatantra Party.
Bhurtel is contesting on behalf of the Nepal Democratic Foreign Employment Entrepreneurs Association, affiliated with the Nepali Congress. Former first vice president Dick Bahadur Khatri is competing with his panel under the Progressive Foreign Employment Entrepreneurs Forum, aligned with CPN-UML. Haribahadur Pandey leads a panel representing entrepreneurs affiliated with the Rastriya Swatantra Party. The three panels have registered a total of 51 candidates for 17 positions, including seven office bearers and ten members.
Bhuwan Singh Gurung was elected president at the 31st general assembly held on Chaitra 29, 2078. However, dissatisfaction over his leadership among committee members grew, leading to resignations from two-thirds of office bearers and members, including General Secretary Mahesh Kumar Basnet. Following these resignations, the committee was dissolved and a management committee was established per the association’s constitution. This committee set the date for the special general assembly and election on Jestha 24.
After Gurung claimed the presidency himself, the Kathmandu District Administration Office intervened, dissolved the committee, and ordered a special general assembly on Jestha 24. Accordingly, the special general assembly and election will be held tomorrow. Rajendra Bhandari, a member of the management committee and outgoing president of the association, has confirmed that candidates from the three panels have registered to contest the new committee positions.
