No Consensus on Leadership in Rastriya Swatantra Party Siraha, Election Scheduled for Tomorrow

Due to the failure to reach a consensus on leadership at the first district convention of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (Raswapa) in Siraha, a new leadership will be selected through an election. According to Dr. Indrajit Mahto, the acting coordinator of the Election Commission, the election process will commence tomorrow at 10 a.m. The current district chairperson Hari Prasad Mainali will face competition from Subhashkumar Yadav and Ramsaugurath Yadav for the chairmanship.

Although the open session of the convention started at 8 a.m. on Saturday, the election process was initiated due to the absence of agreement on leadership selection, Dr. Mahto informed. Despite multiple attempts by leaders including Purushottam Yadav, the elected members of the House of Representatives from all four constituencies of Siraha and proportional representation members, to build consensus, the final decision was to proceed with the election.

He added that most election procedures have been completed, with only the publication of the voter list remaining. All preparations will be finalized by tonight, and the election will begin at 10 a.m. tomorrow. For the position of district chairperson, the current chairperson Hari Prasad Mainali, youth leader Subhash Kumar Yadav, and Ram Saugurath Yadav have registered their candidacies. For the vice-chairperson post, E. Arvind Kumar Ram, Jeevach Yadav, Nima Kumari Yadav, and Geeta Shahi are contesting. The secretary position sees competition among Ramesh Kumar Yadav, Rajendra Mandal, Paritosh Kumar Yadav, and Amit Raj Rai. Even after nominations were registered, efforts for consensus continued; however, as multiple candidates sought the top positions, the leadership selection will ultimately be conducted through elections.
