Self-Defense Competition Concludes Successfully

May 7, Kathmandu – The Self-Defense Martial Arts Association of Nepal, in collaboration with the National Sports Council, successfully concluded a self-defense competition on Sunday.

This competition aimed to raise awareness about self-defense, empower women and youth, promote sports development, and enhance social security. Around 120 players participated in this event.

The opening ceremony was inaugurated under the chief patronage of Saraswati KC, president of the National Sports Council Employees’ Union. The closing ceremony was graced by Suvarna Shrestha, the former executive committee member of the National Sports Council, as the chief guest.

The competition was conducted across various categories including senior women, senior men, junior women, junior men, open women, and open men events.

In the senior men’s individual category, Arambha Rokaya secured first place, Binita Thapa second, and Dhruv Sah third. In the senior women’s individual category, Rima Kumari Chaudhary was first, Pooja Sarki second, and Jayanti Sah third.

For junior men’s individual, Anmol Tamang took first, Krishan Saud second, and Arav Dulal third. In junior women’s individual, Ashika Karki was first, Sushma Karki second, and Rosmita Bhandari third.

In the open women’s category, Osin Rai secured first place, Nistha Timilsina second, and Payal Majhi third. For open men, Prasan Kunwar took first, Mukesh Raya second, and Dhruv Sah third.

First, second, and third place winners of each category received cash prizes of NPR 5,000, 3,000, and 1,500 respectively, along with certificates.

During the closing ceremony, chief guest Suvarna Shrestha emphasized the vital importance of self-defense skills in today’s society. She stated that such competitions play a crucial role in building confidence, discipline, and safety awareness among youth, alongside promoting sports development.

The Self-Defense Martial Arts Association of Nepal has committed to continuing such programs to promote self-defense, martial arts development, women’s empowerment, and social awareness in the future.

The association works actively in Nepal to increase self-defense awareness, empower women and youth, advance sports, and promote social security.

It conducts self-defense training, martial arts coaching, sports competitions, awareness programs, and social campaigns for diverse age groups.
