Rizab and Trisa Win Gold Medals at U-16 National Gymnastics; Everest English School Crowned Champion

At the U-16 National School-Level Gymnastics Competition, Rizab Jakibanzar from Loners Academy clinched the gold medal among boys, while Trisa Maharjan from Bal Diksha Sadan secured gold in the girls’ category. Everest English School emerged as the champion in the mixed team event. The two-day competition saw participation from 196 athletes representing 62 schools. The event took place on 24th Jestha in Kathmandu.
In the individual events, Rizab led the boys’ category, and Trisa topped the girls’ category. Asal Joshi from Nepal Police School and Bryan Lovazu from Khwapring English Academy took second place among the boys, with Lija Awal from Prabhat securing third. In the girls’ category, Punya Shrestha from Kasthamandap earned second place, while Aradhya Mahat and Harshali Ranjit from Little Angels tied for third.
The competition, jointly organized by the Nepal Gymnastics Association and the Nepal School Sports Federation (NSSF), witnessed Everest English School capturing the champion team title in the team events. Bijeshwari Gyan Mandir Military College finished second, followed by SOS Sanothimi in third place.
The awards ceremony was conducted by Dhruv Bahadur Pradhan, President of Nepal Gymnastics Association, and former MP Madhav Sapkota, among others. The event, held over two days at the National Sports Council (Rachep) stadium in Tripureshwor, featured 196 athletes from 62 schools including departmental teams. Rajkumar Karki, General Secretary of NSSF, stated that the U-16 competition was organized with the intent to nurture gymnastics talent at the school level.
Dhruv Bahadur Pradhan emphasized that gymnastics is known as a ‘mother sport’ and that such school-level competitions significantly contribute to the development of the sport.
