
The Nepal Police team emerged as champions with 1,036 points at the Third Nepal Aquatics Kathmandu Metropolitan Mayor’s Cup Swimming Competition. Nisarga Vatika School secured second place with 778 points, while the APF Club came in third, accumulating 576 points. The two-day event witnessed nine new national records set across various categories.
Kathmandu, 24 Jestha — Nepal Police claimed the team champion title on Sunday in the Third Nepal Aquatics Kathmandu Metropolitan Mayor’s Cup Swimming Competition. Nisarga Vatika School took second place with 778 points, and the APF Club ranked third with 576 points. The top three teams were awarded cash prizes of NPR 50,000, 25,000, and 15,000 respectively.
The competition was held at the outdoor swimming pool in Satdobato. In the men’s category, Joden Shrestha of APF and Ervin Shrestha of Nepal Police were declared the best players, while Devansi Joshi of Nepal Police was named the best female player. Joden and Ervin each secured three gold medals, whereas Devansi won nine golds and two bronze medals. The best players received NPR 15,000 each as a cash award.
Throughout the two-day competition, a total of nine national records were established. Joden Shrestha set three records, while Devansi Joshi, Sisambhun Rai, Ira Amatya, Sauren Bahadur Singh, Abhib Pradhan, and Duwana Lama each set one national record. Each record holder was awarded NPR 5,000 in prize money. The winners received their awards from Kathmandu Metropolitan Acting Mayor Sunita Dangol, Nepal Swimming Association President Jagatman Shrestha, competition coordinator Umesh Pradhan, among others. According to Nepal Swimming Association Secretary Gangalal Gole, a total of 172 athletes — 94 men and 78 women — competed in the event.
