Four Arrested Including Ward Chairperson for Issuing Fake Nepali Citizenship to Indian National

Ramshwar Ahir, the ward chairperson of Rajpur Rural Municipality-4 in Dang, was among four individuals taken into custody on May 8 in Lamahi for allegedly facilitating fake Nepali citizenship to an Indian national. According to police statements, Ahir assisted Alam Jolha, an Indian citizen, by providing a fraudulent local recommendation from his ward area, which enabled Jolha to obtain Nepali citizenship illegally.
The four detainees were arrested by the Area Police Office in Gadhwa. Alongside Ward Chairperson Ahir, those arrested include 44-year-old Indian citizen Alam Jolha, Rajpur Rural Municipality Ward-4 secretary Rajkumar Kahar, and office assistant Mina Chaudhary. Police Inspector Dabal Bahadur Bam confirmed the arrests and stated that all four are under extended investigation on charges related to citizenship fraud.
It has also come to light that Prem Khawas, the former chief of the Lamahi Area Administration Office, signed documents to assist the Indian national in obtaining Nepali citizenship, prompting authorities to include him in the ongoing investigation.
