Iranian President: We Will Neither Retreat from War Nor from Negotiations; We Reject Threats

Summary: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has made it clear that Iran will defend its rights firmly and will not back down in the face of any threats. Meanwhile, the US ambassador to Lebanon, Michele Isace, claimed there are disagreements between President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu regarding Lebanon. Concerns over escalating conflict between Iran and Israel have driven up crude oil prices in international markets. Kathmandu, 26 Jestha.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that the country’s highest priority is national security and the peace of its people. In a statement released on social media, he emphasized Iran’s firm commitment to defending its rights without yielding to any threats. President Pezeshkian noted that Iran remains actively involved not only in strengthening its security but also in negotiations, affirming that there have been no reductions in security preparations nor has any dialogue been shut down.

Earlier, Iran warned that if Israel continued its operations or launched another attack in southern Lebanon, a strong response would follow. Reports indicate that US President Trump urged Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu to halt retaliatory actions against Iran, revealing differences between the US and Israel. However, Trump insisted that any agreement with Iran must mandatorily be accepted by Netanyahu.

US Ambassador to Lebanon Michele Isace stated that there are disagreements between President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu concerning Lebanon-related issues. According to Isace, the US seeks to prevent further escalation of the conflict, which led to intense discussions between Trump and Netanyahu over Lebanon. This suggests that while the US aims to reduce regional tensions, disagreements remain regarding Israel’s actions.

The prospect of increasing conflict between Iran and Israel and potential future tensions have resulted in a rise in crude oil prices in international markets. Investors worry that rising tensions in the Middle East could disrupt oil supplies. Currently, Brent crude oil is trading at $94.38 per barrel and WTI crude oil at $91.41 per barrel. Despite both parties agreeing to halt attacks following President Trump’s appeal, recent statements indicate that military operations have not fully ceased, causing uncertainty in the oil market. Ongoing talks between the US and Iran are expected to reach some conclusion by the end of June. Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations, Amir Saeed Iravani, confirmed that negotiations are underway and efforts are being made to find a resolution. (In collaboration with agencies)
