26th Jestha, Kathmandu – A five-member Nepali contingent, including four male players, departed for Putuo, China, on Tuesday to compete in the 8th Asian University Basketball Championship.
The 3×3 format tournament, held from June 10 to 15, will feature players Nukesh Jugjali, Dipson KC, Simon Gurung, and Shreyas Bahadur Shah. The team will be coached by Nripesh Shrestha.
According to Purnasingh Bohara, General Secretary of the Nepal University Sports Association, this competition also acts as a qualifier for the upcoming FISU World Cup in Macau this October.
During a send-off event on Tuesday, Ramcharitra Mehta, Member-Secretary of the National Sports Council, and Raju Singh, Advisor to the Minister of Education and Sports, extended their best wishes for the team’s success.
