May 26, Kathmandu — The final match of the third edition of the Asian E-Learning ‘Jayakumarnath Shah Memorial’ U-16 interschool cricket tournament was postponed due to rainfall.
At the Upper Mulpani Cricket Ground, Nepal Police School won the toss and elected to bat first, scoring 101 runs for 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Mohammad Abbas Safi was unbeaten with 33 runs, while Shyam Babu Thakur and Ashutosh Mishra contributed 12 and 10 runs, respectively.
Under the captaincy of Sushil Kedia, Kamal Shahi from World Bharati School DAV took 4 wickets for 11 runs in 4 overs. Kunjana Acharya and Prasiddha Jaisi claimed two wickets each.
Chasing a target of 102 runs, DAV was 17 runs for 2 wickets in 4.1 overs when the rain interrupted the game. Arush Jha of DAV was unbeaten on 7 runs, while Biraj Jaiswal remained not out without scoring. Prasiddha Jaisi had scored 6 runs, and Satyam Basnet scored 2 before getting out.
As the rain did not stop, organizers announced the match will resume under the same conditions on Tuesday at 7 AM.
The tournament, hosted by the Kathmandu District Cricket Association, began on May 3 with 24 teams participating. The champion team will receive NPR 150,000, while the runner-up will be awarded NPR 75,000.
