Minister Mahavir Pun Decides to Stay at the Ministry Due to Lack of Immediate Housing

Newly appointed Minister Mahavir Pun has stated that he will sleep and stay within the ministry premises as the government has not yet provided immediate housing. He said, “I will sleep here. I will stay here. I will leave only if the government provides a quarter.” He also mentioned that he intends to serve as minister for a maximum of three years before entrusting responsibilities to the youth. Kathmandu, 26th Jestha.

Speaking to journalists after the oath-taking ceremony on Tuesday, he said, “I understand there is currently no immediate provision for a government quarter. Compared to that, I am happy to be able to stay here. I will work with enthusiasm and energy. Otherwise, I will rest and then get up to work again. This is my approach.” He also stated that he will not serve as minister for five years.

He added, “Now, I want to tell the Prime Minister and the people – I won’t stay long. I will remain minister for at most three years. Within these three years, after completing work intended for five or six years and laying a solid foundation, I will hand over the responsibilities to the youth. Developing the country means giving opportunities to the youth.” He laughed and commented, “I am a 72-year-old youth myself and, because of my passion and energy, I consider myself more energetic than a 30-year-old.”
