May 28, Kathmandu — A bridge will soon be constructed over Dhedhukhola, linking wards 1 and 2 of Thori Rural Municipality in Parsa. The project will connect Dipak Nagar in ward 1 with Bhanjyang in ward 2.

Due to the lack of a bridge over this stream, residents have had to risk their lives during the rainy season to cross it. This has caused difficulties in accessing healthcare and attending school.

For a long time, the absence of a bridge here has also complicated travel between Thori, Chitwan, and the district headquarters in Birgunj.

MP Tek Bahadur Shakya from Parsa Constituency No. 4 said he had exerted pressure on the government to allocate funds, fulfilling a long-held dream for the region to have this bridge constructed.

He stated, “For many years, local residents suffered due to the lack of a bridge over Dhedhukhola. Once this bridge is built, it will be a great relief for the community. I am confident that a proper budget will be allocated in the red book for the project.”

According to MP Shakya, the postal highway project will also accelerate the bridge construction process in this area.

The Ministry of Infrastructure Development has included the Dhedhukhola bridge in its plans for constructing bridges across Chitwan, Parsa, and Morang districts.

A total budget of 5.6 million rupees has been allocated for nearly a dozen bridges in these three districts. The Local Infrastructure Development Department will implement these projects.

Along with the Dhedhukhola bridge, the budget also includes construction for bridges over Sirsia Khola on the road from Jyotipuram to Chorni, Singahi Khola between Bhawani and Pashupatinagar, and Phanti Khola which connects Babahani and Banihar bazaars.

Funds have also been allocated for a bridge over the Oriya River in Ghodaida, Ward 1 of Dhobini Rural Municipality. Under the same plan, bridges will be constructed along the Ratnanagar-16 Hattighar to Khairahani-4 Kair Khola road in Chitwan, as well as over Pungikhola, Kair Khola, Ghangar Khola, and Betharikholas in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-2.
