May 11, Kathmandu – Janakpur Bolts, the champion team from the inaugural Nepal Premier League (NPL) Cricket 2026, have released marquee player Asif Sheikh ahead of the upcoming season.

Janakpur announced the list of retained and released players on Thursday. Following the release of Asif Sheikh, the team has retained five players.

The players retained include captain Anil Sah, Mayan Yadav, Lalit Rajwanshi, Aditya Mehta, and Vikas Agri.

Janakpur Bolts won the first edition of the NPL by defeating Sudurpashchim Royals in the final, claiming the championship.

However, in the second edition, Janakpur underperformed and were eliminated during the league stage.

For the second season of the NPL, teams are allowed to retain up to six players apart from the marquee players.

It has also been informed that the NPL mini auction will take place soon.
