After the United States added its major technology companies to the Pentagon’s restricted list, China has vehemently opposed this move. The new list issued by the Pentagon includes top Chinese tech and automobile manufacturers such as Alibaba, Baidu, BYD, and Nio. China’s Ministry of Commerce has demanded an immediate reversal of the US action and warned of strong retaliatory measures if the demands are not met.
China has expressed dissatisfaction at the decision by the US Department of Defense (Pentagon) to place some of its largest companies on the restricted list. In a statement released on Saturday, China’s Ministry of Commerce strongly condemned the US action. The Pentagon has accused these companies of supporting the Chinese military.
The US Department of Defense updated its restricted list last Monday, including some of China’s leading technology firms. The list features ecommerce giant Alibaba and internet search engine provider Baidu. Additionally, prominent automobile manufacturers BYD and Nio have also been included.
The Chinese Ministry of Commerce urged the US to immediately cease these wrongful practices. It has called on Washington to withdraw the related measures and return to a constructive and stable China-US relationship. The ministry also warned that Beijing will take strong and effective retaliatory actions if Chinese companies are not treated fairly.
