Rastriya Samajwadi Party Cancels Election Process and Results of Kailali District Assembly
The Central Election Commission of the Rastriya Samajwadi Party (RSP) has annulled the election process and results of the Kailali district assembly due to procedural errors. In the assembly held on 25 Jestha, Kavindra Thakulla was declared victorious as the district president. Thakulla received 335 votes, while his competitors Mahesh Kumar Chaudhary and Hari Regmi received 37 and 22 votes respectively.
The election process and results of the RSP Kailali district assembly have been invalidated. In a statement released by the Central Election Commission on Sunday, it was noted that despite procedural mistakes, the election process and results from the district assembly have been canceled. Complaints supported by evidence regarding the election process and its legitimacy, filed by district candidates and party members during the assembly, have drawn serious attention from the Central Election Commission.
“Despite objections and advice from respected members of Kailali district, the election was conducted illegally and contrary to the party’s rules and regulations. An initial review of complaints and evidence clearly confirmed that the minimum democratic election methods, procedures, and standards were not followed,” the statement read.
