Meta has launched new artificial intelligence-based features for Facebook users. These updates include an ‘AI Mode’ to enhance the search process, along with new AI tools for photo and video editing. The new search system’s ‘AI Mode’ utilizes Meta’s AI technology to provide users with detailed answers directly, rather than just displaying a list of web links. This system compiles real conversations and experiences from various public Facebook groups and Reels to generate responses.
Previously, Meta released a separate app called ‘Forum’ aimed at simplifying answer retrieval based on comments from Facebook groups. With this latest update, the company aims to incorporate a Reddit-like human-curated knowledge base within its own platform. Additionally, AI capabilities for photo and video editing on Facebook have been enhanced. The new features include automatic scanning of older photos stored in the mobile camera roll to create posts with new video collages or transition effects.
The AI will automatically compile a user’s activity over the past month into a single format and offer post suggestions. This feature will be completely optional (opt-in) and will only activate if the user chooses to enable it, the company has clarified. Furthermore, new photo presets are now available for Facebook Stories and profiles, allowing users to alter clothing in their images using AI. For example, sports enthusiasts can select the ‘Edit with AI’ option and choose ‘Wear It’ or ‘Wardrobe’ to virtually dress their photos in any team’s jersey.
