Ministry-Level Discussions on Lawmaking Conclude; Minister Gautam Urges Prompt Draft Preparation

The Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs has concluded inter-ministerial discussions concerning the bills to be presented in Parliament in the upcoming fiscal year. Law Minister Sobita Gautam led the dialogue focused on preparing a prioritized list of bills to be submitted to the Federal Parliament by the end of Ashad month, in accordance with the Legislative Act.

Minister Gautam emphasized the importance of prioritizing thorough preparation to ensure the creation of high-quality and implementable laws, advising all ministries against hasty lawmaking. She has been engaging in daily consultations with ministers, secretaries, and other officials from various ministries to assess their progress and confirm which bills are included in the priority list.

Under the Legislative Act, there is a legal mandate to prepare and submit an annual prioritized list of bills to the Federal Parliament by the end of Ashad month. During the discussions, Minister Gautam requested all ministries to expedite the drafting of the necessary laws. The ministers committed to presenting an updated list of bills soon, highlighting bills currently in preparation.

The talks also covered finalizing and submitting the bill list on time and establishing clear timelines for each bill’s progress. Minister Gautam noted that careful and unhurried lawmaking leads to smoother implementation, warning that ambiguous or contradictory laws result in unnecessary expenditure of the state’s time, workforce, and resources.
