Jumla Records 3,671 Metric Tons of Bean Production in Fiscal Year 2081/82

In the fiscal year 2081/82, Jumla produced 3,671 metric tons of beans. According to Rambhakta Adhikari, head of the Agriculture Development Office Jumla, the sale of these beans generated an income of NPR 13,392,000. Beans are cultivated across 2,257 hectares in the district. With increasing market demand, farmers are increasingly attracted to bean farming.

However, due to a lack of unified market management and price regulation, farmers are compelled to sell beans at NPR 150 per kilogram. Farmers in Til Gaupalika, Tatopani, Chandannath, Kanakasundari, Patarasi, Hima, Tatopani, and Guthichaur areas have earned substantial income from bean cultivation. In particular, farmers from Rara village in Til produced between three to twelve quintals of beans last year.

The National Agriculture Modernization Program Implementation Unit Jumla has designated a bean zone program in Rara, Til-1. This program operates across eight hundred hectares spanning wards 1, 2, 8, and 9 of the municipality, focusing on commercial bean production and processing center development. Farmers involved receive advanced seeds, technical support, and training related to commercial farming.
