Following their victory over Iraq in the opening match, Norway faces a crucial game against Senegal, who were defeated by France in their first match. As part of Group I in the FIFA World Cup 2026, Norway and Senegal will compete on Tuesday morning at 5:45 AM. Norway, coming off a 4–1 win against Iraq, aims to secure a second consecutive victory and advance to the knockout stage. On the other hand, Senegal must earn points against Norway to keep their hopes alive of progressing further, having lost to France earlier. Kathmandu, June 22.

The upcoming clash between Norway and Senegal in Group I of FIFA World Cup 2026 will kick off at 5:45 AM local time at the New York-New Jersey stadium. Both teams, Norway fresh from beating Iraq and Senegal reeling from their defeat by France, face a decisive match. Erling Haaland made an impressive World Cup debut by scoring two goals, as Norway marked their return to the tournament after 28 years with a strong 4–1 victory over Iraq.

Senegal, competing in the World Cup for the first time in 24 years, could not repeat their past success against France. Despite a strong first half, Senegal failed to score, and two goals from Kylian Mbappé in the second half led to a 3–1 loss. This marks only the second encounter between Norway and Senegal on the international football stage and their first meeting at the World Cup. Previously, in a friendly match held at home in 2006, Senegal defeated Norway 2–1.

Norway aims to maintain their winning momentum from the opener and clinch a consecutive victory to secure a spot in the knockout rounds. Norway last reached the knockout stage in 1998, losing 1–0 to Italy in the round of 16. With their third group match scheduled against France, Norway must ensure victory in this game to advance confidently. Meanwhile, the strong African side Senegal also needs to defeat Norway to reach the knockout phase.
