Leadership Change at WhatsApp: Indian Entrepreneur Kunal Shah to Take Charge

June 22, Kathmandu – There has been a leadership change at WhatsApp, the world’s largest messaging app. Will Cathcart, who has served as the head of WhatsApp for seven years, has resigned from his position. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that Indian fintech company Cred’s founder, Kunal Shah, has been appointed as the new head of WhatsApp.
In a social media post, Zuckerberg stated that although Cathcart is leaving WhatsApp, he will take on a new role within Meta. Cathcart will lead the development of new products within Meta from their inception. During his seven-year tenure, Cathcart oversaw WhatsApp’s growth to over 3 billion users.
Kunal Shah, who is set to lead WhatsApp’s new management, is a prominent Indian technology entrepreneur. His company, Cred, is considered one of India’s leading tech firms. Zuckerberg expressed confidence that Shah’s business acumen and global market insights will elevate WhatsApp to new heights. “I am excited to work alongside Shah to make WhatsApp even better for billions of users and millions of businesses worldwide,” Zuckerberg wrote.
