France Advances to Knockout Stage with 3-0 Victory Over Iraq

In a match held at Philadelphia Stadium, France defeated Iraq 3-0, securing their place in the knockout stage of the FIFA World Cup 2026. On June 23, Kathmandu time, the former runner-up France claimed their second win. They had previously defeated Senegal 3-1 in their opening game.

France’s captain Kylian Mbappé opened the scoring in the 14th minute, giving his team an early lead. The match was suspended for two hours near the end of the first half due to heavy rain. Mbappé scored his second goal of the match in the 54th minute, doubling France’s advantage. Then, in the 66th minute, Ousmane Dembélé further extended their lead with a goal.

Throughout the game, France displayed impressive dominance and maintained control against Iraq. With two games played, France has amassed 6 points and sits atop Group standings. Norway is second with 3 points from one game, while Senegal and Iraq remain without points.
