Trump Issues Warning: Negotiations Will Be Cancelled If Iran Blocks Nuclear Site Inspections
June 24, Kathmandu – U.S. President Donald Trump has warned that negotiations will be terminated if Iran refuses to allow inspections of its nuclear sites. He emphasized that Iran has already agreed to international inspection conditions, and therefore, inspections at Iranian nuclear facilities must take place. Speaking to reporters in Pennsylvania, Trump stated, ‘If they backtrack on these matters, I will immediately cancel the talks.’
In recent talks held in Switzerland between the U.S. and Iran, the American side agreed to temporarily lift sanctions on Iranian oil sales for 60 days and to release funds amounting to 1.2 billion USD. Additionally, Iran consented to allow inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to re-enter the country. Agreements were also reached to hold further negotiations aimed at establishing a long-term ceasefire.
According to Trump, the United Nations’ nuclear watchdog, the IAEA, will deploy teams to Iran at the appropriate time to monitor the nuclear program. However, he did not disclose when exactly these inspections will commence.
