OpenAI Unveils Its Own AI Chip ‘Jalapeno’

June 25, Kathmandu – ChatGPT maker OpenAI has unveiled its first self-designed AI chip named ‘Jalapeno.’ The company announced that it produced this chip in collaboration with semiconductor manufacturer Broadcom. According to OpenAI, this new chip is developed to securely, reliably, and efficiently power ChatGPT, Codex, and next-generation advanced AI agents in the future.
Until now, OpenAI has relied on chips from other companies such as Nvidia to run its models. OpenAI emphasized that chips are a critically important foundation for AI development. Owning its own chip will enable the company to offer AI services to more people at a lower cost. The company believes this move will bring significant changes to the global AI market and further expand access to AI technology.
