The Kedia Group, organizers of the inaugural Nepal Volleyball League (NVL), announced the names, owners, and logos of the six franchise teams competing in the league on Thursday. Kathmandu, 11 Ashar – The men’s Nepal Volleyball League disclosed its six franchise teams during an event hosted by the Kedia Group, marking their debut edition. The teams set to compete include Annapurna Spiker Kings, Karnali Shivraj, Kathmandu Reds, Khaptad Falcons, Madhesh Warriors, and Sagarmatha Smashers, each representing different cities across Nepal.
The Annapurna Spiker Kings are owned by Sumira Sports Venture, with Mina Tripathi Limbu, Subodh Tripathi, and Karn Thapa managing the team’s promotion and public relations. The Kathmandu Reds are promoted by Quest Pharmaceuticals through Q Sports Management, with Umesh Lal Shrestha, Subin Shrestha, Uttam Kumar Shrestha, Prithvi Raj Bhandari, and Kumar Anurag as team promoters. Karnali Shivraj is under the ownership of Lakshara Films, with Krishna Bik, Ashok Bhatt, and Santok Bik serving as promoters. Madhesh Warriors are owned by Compass Entertainment Network and promoted by Sandip Shah and Pranav Mahat. Raj Shah, Sabhraj Bhandari, and Sanjiv Upreti are the promoters for Khaptad Falcons, while Sagarmatha Smashers’ promoters are Sunny Raj Bhandari and Banni Raj Bhandari.
The Kedia Group had signed an agreement with the Nepal Volleyball Association two years ago to organize NVL. Despite earlier delays due to various reasons, the league is now set to be launched. Ashwin Kedia, Managing Director of NVL, described the league as a historic milestone for Nepali volleyball, expressing confidence that it will aid in nurturing talented players. NVL Chairman Bimal Kedia shared that they had long awaited this day with their teams and fans and emphasized the motivating cooperation among the six franchise promoters. He added, “Our persistent efforts have led us to this success. The enthusiasm shown by the team promoters is inspiring and offers great hope for the league’s future.” All six franchise promoters expressed their excitement and commitment to usher in a new chapter in Nepali volleyball development during the event. While the organizers have yet to announce the official league dates, they indicated an announcement will be made soon. President of the Nepal Volleyball Association, Jitendra Bahadur Sangh, stated that the league’s schedule is expected to be approved between the first and second weeks of Bhadra.
