Extreme Football Favour 3v3 Tournament to Select Nepal’s Team for Street Football World Cup in the Netherlands
Following a league-cum-knockout format, this tournament will feature league stage matches where the winner, runner-up, and the best third-placed teams from each group—a total of 18 teams—will advance to the knockout stage, completing a 64-team knockout bracket. The selection tournament for the ISFA Street Football World Cup, scheduled to be held in the Netherlands, will take place in Nepal from July 1 to 8. A total of 95 teams will participate in the event, and the winning team will represent Nepal at the World Cup in September. Matches will be held across five historic locations in Kathmandu, with floodlight arrangements, following a league-cum-knockout format. (14 Ashar, Kathmandu)
With the aim of reviving Nepal’s rich history in street football, the Extreme Football Favour 3v3 selection tournament for the ISFA Street Football World Cup is set to be organized. Jointly hosted by LPS Management, Athlete Enhancement Center (AEC), and Triple Two Production, the competition will be conducted at multiple venues across the valley from July 1 to 8 (Ashar 17 to 24 in the Nepali calendar).
The event is fully supported by Extreme Football and will host 95 teams divided into 23 groups, organizers have confirmed. Following the league phase, the winners, runners-up, and 18 best third-placed teams will qualify for the knockout round, making up a total of 64 teams. Subsequent stages will include the Round of 64, 32, 16, quarterfinals, semifinals, and the final match.
The winning team will participate in the ISFA Street Football World Cup to be held in Utrecht, Netherlands, from September 2 to 6, according to Bikalp Kharel, CEO of LPS Management and ISFA Country Head. Nepal’s delegation will comprise four players, one manager, and one coach, with sponsorship support arranged, Kharel added.
Matches will be conducted according to ISFA’s 3v3 street football rules. Each match will last 10 minutes, and a size 4 futsal ball will be used. To create an authentic atmosphere reflecting Kathmandu’s indigenous culture and the thrill of street football, five historic venues—Kuma Nani, Teku, Tabahal, Lagan, Om Bahal, and Tebahal Sankata—have been selected for the group stage matches. These locations also aim to complement local culture in harmony with Brazil’s famous samba street football style.
Matches will take place from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. under floodlights, accompanied by special music and entertainment performances throughout the event, organizers have stated. Founded in 2023, the International Street Football Association (ISFA) aims to unite street football players worldwide under one umbrella. Last year, Nepal participated in the ISFA Street Football World Cup held in Latvia.
