Ukraine Launches Intense Attack on Major Russian Oil Terminal

June 20, Kathmandu – Ukraine has launched a significant attack on a major oil terminal in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The strike occurred on Friday night, with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirming that Ukrainian forces successfully targeted critical infrastructure that serves as a vital revenue source for Russia’s war efforts. Additionally, claims have been made that a key Russian naval base was also attacked.

Alexander Beglov, the governor of Saint Petersburg, confirmed the severe drone attack on the city, reporting damage to the oil terminal. However, details regarding human casualties have not yet been disclosed. Recently, Ukraine has intensified long-range drone strikes on Russia’s principal energy infrastructure, reportedly causing a substantial energy shortage within Russia. According to Ukrainian claims, these attacks have destroyed 43 percent of Russia’s oil refining capacity, although this figure has not been independently verified. Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin acknowledged last week that the fuel crisis is a direct consequence of Ukrainian attacks.
