Tears Shed by Sons of the Late Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei at Funeral

The funeral procession for Iran’s late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has begun. Thousands of people participated in the procession held in Tehran. Khamenei governed Iran for over 25 years and died last February in an airstrike involving the US and Israel. The official state funeral ceremonies will conclude on July 9, after his body is interred at his tomb.

His sons gathered near the coffin, visibly grieving and shedding tears. However, his eldest son, Mojtaba, who succeeded him as Supreme Leader, has not appeared publicly. There are reports that Mojtaba was also injured during the attack that took his father’s life.
