June 22, Kathmandu – Asif Sheikh, the wicketkeeper-batsman of the Nepal national cricket team, has been signed by the Lumbini Lions for the third edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) cricket tournament. After being released by the Janakpur Bolts prior to this season, Asif joined Lumbini Lions through the lucky draw system.
Asif attracted bids from seven teams, including his former squad Janakpur Bolts, while only the Chitwan Rhinos did not place a bid for him. Starting with a base price of NPR 1.5 million in Category A, the bidding for Asif escalated to a maximum of NPR 2 million. After the bids, the defending champions Lumbini Lions emerged victorious in the lucky draw.
Asif Sheikh had previously been the marquee player for Janakpur Bolts during the first two editions of the league.
