Forest Office Chief Arrested with Bribe of 12,000 Rupees

June 7, Siraha – The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has arrested the head of a Forest Sub-Division Office in Siraha district on charges of accepting a bribe. Ramkewal Rai Yadav, chief of the Bandipur Forest Sub-Division Office, was apprehended while accepting 12,000 rupees in bribes from a service seeker.

The CIAA team from Bardibas took him into custody on Tuesday at Karjanha Municipality-4. According to information received by the commission, a sawmill operating in Karjanha Municipality-2 was demanding a bribe of 4,000 rupees per truck for three trucks of timber brought from different locations. Upon learning of the bribe demand, affected service seekers approached the commission. Following this tip-off, a sting operation was conducted resulting in his arrest, and the investigation is currently underway. The CIAA team is also engaged in recording statements related to the incident.

Bechan Chaudhary, chief of the Division Forest Office in Siraha, confirmed having received information about the incident but stated he has no details regarding from whom or for what subject the bribe was taken.
