Health Directorate Asked for Clarification After Sending Incorrect Information

June 25, Janakpurdham – It has come to light that Sarojchandra Nyaupane, director of the Health Directorate, sent incorrect information to the Vigilance Center by linking the names of the minister and secretary in the case of purchasing nutrition materials worth seven crore rupees. The Ministry of Health and Population of Madhesh Province has requested a clarification from Director Nyaupane regarding the submission of incorrect details. The ministry’s secretary, Dr. Pramod Yadav, confirmed that the director was asked for clarification on Tuesday.

“The ministry had instructed to cancel the tender. However, the Vigilance Center requested clarification from the directorate over the continuation of the process. A letter was received at the ministry stating that based on verbal instructions from discussions with the minister and secretary, the process was continued,” Secretary Yadav said. “We were surprised by this. Subsequently, the directorate’s director was asked to provide an explanation.” The directorate had issued a tender for the purchase of nutrition materials worth seven crore rupees on May 21. Earlier, the nutrition program had failed to justify the procurement, leading to a letter dated May 29 instructing the directorate to cancel the process.

However, contrary to the ministry’s instruction, the directorate reportedly continued with the procurement process. The Vigilance Center sought clarification from the directorate on why the tender process was continued against the ministry’s directive. The director claimed that the procurement process for the nutrition materials was initiated following comments and instructions from the ministry itself. “Although the ministry sent a letter to cancel the tender, it later issued instructions to cancel the process again. Nevertheless, during discussions at the ministry, it was suggested to continue the process,” he explained.
