Minister Gautam Affirms Government’s Commitment to Implementing Recommendations of Constitutional Commissions

Law Minister Sobita Gautam has affirmed the government’s commitment to implementing the recommendations and annual reports of constitutional commissions. Speaking at the National Assembly session, Minister Gautam emphasized that the government has been persistently working towards the execution of these commissions’ recommendations. She stated that the government is serious about implementing the constitutional commissions’ reports through legislation and practical reforms. Kathmandu, 11 July.

Addressing the National Assembly meeting on Friday, during discussions on the annual report of the National Inclusive Commission and responding on behalf of Prime Minister Balendra Shah, Minister Gautam conveyed the government’s dedication to implementing the recommendations and annual reports of constitutional commissions. She also noted that the government is currently studying the suggestions and reports submitted by various constitutional commissions.

“All reports and recommendations from constitutional commissions are being carefully reviewed, and the government is committed to implementing all of them. Some progress has been made, and further actions are underway,” she said. Minister Gautam noted that certain recommendations require the drafting of new legislation, while others call for practical reforms, and the government is seriously engaged in both.

“Some issues necessitate the creation of new laws, while others demand improvements in implementation. We are continuously working on this. It is constitutionally mandated that now the constitutional commissions will be accountable to the federal parliament and will operate independently of the government. Accordingly, improvements will be progressively undertaken,” she added.
