Linda Noskova from the Czech Republic defeated Karolina Muchova to win her first Wimbledon women’s singles title. Noskova secured victory with a scoreline of 6–2, 5–7, 6–3, claiming the first Grand Slam title of her career. This marks the first women’s singles final in Wimbledon history featuring two Czech players.
The 21-year-old Noskova won the first set comfortably at 6–2 and took a 5–2 lead in the second set, appearing poised for an easy win. However, despite having five championship points, she was unable to close out the match at that stage.
The 10th-seeded Muchova then rallied, winning five consecutive games to take the second set 7–5 and push the match to a deciding set. Noskova, who fell behind in the second set, demonstrated resilience in the final set and secured the championship by taking it 6–3.
“This feels incredible. It was an extremely challenging match both physically and mentally. Winning that final point is never easy,” Noskova said after her victory. She became emotional as she dedicated the win to her late mother, Ivana, who passed away one day before Wimbledon began two years ago. “I want to thank one more person. I want to thank my mom. Without her, I wouldn’t be here today,” she added.
