The Madhesh Province government has formed a seven-member task force to address issues arising in the budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2083/84. After the provincial assembly sessions were stalled due to demands for budget revision and investigation, the government exhibited flexibility by agreeing to establish the task force to resume the meetings. The provincial assembly of Madhesh Province constituted the task force to resolve problems in the budget for fiscal year 2083/84. The main opposition parties, JSP-Nepal and Janamat Party, had obstructed assembly meetings by demanding budget rewriting and investigation. Subsequently, the assembly was suspended indefinitely a week ago.
The seven-member task force includes Upendra Mahato from JSP-Nepal, Harinarayan Mahato from CPN-UML, and Jangilal Rai from Nepali Congress. Additionally, Pramod Yadav from the Nepali Communist Party (NCP), Sanjay Yadav from Janamat Party, Bimala Ansari from the Federal Socialist Party, and Sarita Thakur from Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) are members. Speaker Ram Ashish Yadav stated that the group would formulate procedures and begin its work today. He also announced the formation of the task force at the start of the assembly session.
The Madhesh Province government had proposed a budget of NPR 4.11386 billion for the fiscal year 2083/84. Demonstrating flexibility to pass the budget, the government consented to the formation of the task force.
