A 19-member Nepalese delegation, including 16 athletes, is departing for Bangkok on Wednesday to participate in the Asian Age Group Swimming Championship. The event is scheduled to take place from July 17 to 25, where Nepalese swimmers will compete in 108 different events, according to Gangalal Gole, Secretary of the Nepal Swimming Association.
On Tuesday, officials including Sports Minister Sasmit Pokharel bid farewell to the team at a ceremony held at Singha Durbar. The Nepalese team consists of six male and ten female swimmers. The male athletes are Arav Agrawal, Aaron Bhandari, Arush Awale, Abhibh Pradhan, Ishan Kshetri Tiwari, and Revant Bahadur Shrestha. The female athletes include Abha Vaidya, Adhyashree Joshi, Anaya Shrestha, Devanshi Joshi, Ira Amatya, Palistha Shakya, Rajbhi Saumya Shah, Samyami Ghimire, Sanskriti Adhikari, and Serena Awale.
Raju Maharjan serves as the team chief, with Sudip Rajbhandari as head coach and Suman Maharjan as coach. The team was formally seen off on Tuesday by Education and Sports Minister Sasmit Pokharel, Member-Secretary of the National Sports Council Ramcharitra Mehta, Advisor to the Ministry of Youth and Sports Raju Singh, and President of the Nepal Swimming Association Jagatman Shrestha.
