As part of preparations for the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2, the Nepal cricket team won the second One Day International practice match against Jersey. On Wednesday night, the rain-affected game ended with Nepal winning by 7 runs according to the DLS method. While chasing 283 runs, Nepal had scored 251 runs for 5 wickets in 46 overs when rain stopped the match. At that point, the DLS par score was 244, putting Nepal 7 runs ahead and thus victorious.
For Nepal, Ishan Pande scored the highest with 90 runs, followed by Kushal Bhurtel with 52 runs. Bhim Sarki was at the crease with 37 runs, while Dipendra Singh Airee remained not out with 34 runs. Charles Perchard took 2 wickets for Jersey, while Julius Sommerer and Scott van Breda claimed 1 wicket each.
Earlier, Jersey batted first after losing the toss, posting 282 runs for 6 wickets in 50 overs. Patrick Gaj led Jersey’s innings with 95 runs, supported by Harrison Carillon’s 56, Jack Tribe’s 50, Nick Greenwood’s 32, and Jonty Jenner’s 27 runs. For Nepal, Karan KC and Sandeep Lamichhane took 2 wickets each, while Lalit Rajbanshi took 1 wicket. Nepal had also won the first match against Jersey by 81 runs. Following these matches, Nepal will travel to the Netherlands to participate in the Tri-Nation League 2 series featuring Namibia. The series is scheduled to begin on July 21.
