TikTok has announced plans to soon launch an AI Literacy Hub in Nepal to help its users identify content created through artificial intelligence. The company has stated that it has already invested over 4 million US dollars globally to promote the responsible use of AI.
Kathmandu — TikTok is introducing a new initiative focused on helping users develop the ability to recognize and understand AI-generated content on its platform. With the goal of ensuring users have a safe digital experience, the company launched this effort in light of the transformative impact generative AI is having on content creation and sharing.
Within the next few weeks, TikTok plans to operate the AI Literacy Hub directly within its app for users in Nepal. The hub will provide educational materials on AI-related topics whenever users search for them. It is expected to offer practical guidance on how to identify AI-generated content and how to confidently engage with AI-driven experiences.
Tom Vargis, Head of AI at TikTok’s Global Public Policy team, said, “At TikTok, we want users to experience the necessary context, confidence, and control when interacting with AI. We continuously invest in technology, partnerships, and educational materials to help users identify AI-generated content, understand how it is created, and use AI tools in creative and responsible ways.”
