3rd Shrawan, Sankhuwasabha – In Chainpur Municipality-10 of Sankhuwasabha district, land ownership certificates have been handed directly to disabled and senior citizens at their homes.
The Special Survey Office in Chainpur distributed the certificates to elderly and disabled residents of Chainpur-10 who previously did not have maps.
During the conflict period, records were destroyed by fire in Chainpur Municipality-10. After completing surveying and legal procedures, certificates were delivered individually to affected elderly and disabled landowners.
Harisharan Nepal, head of the Special Survey Office Chainpur, shared that certificates were handed over by visiting various villages in Chainpur-10, honoring the commitment to provide land ownership certificates at recipients’ homes.
He explained that visiting homes was necessary because elderly and disabled clients find it difficult to travel to the office.
Among those who received certificates at their homes were Ganesh Bahadur Bhandari, 94, from Toribari; Dhan Bahadur Darji, 90, from Hatisude; Budhimaya Jimi, 84; Vriddhimaya Rai, 80, from Salleri; Niraprasad Kafle, 87, from Kharang; Bharat Shakya, 75; and Chandramaya Tamang, 73.
On 14th Baisakh 2059 BS, during the then Maoist conflict, the Survey and Land Revenue Office in Chainpur was burned down, resulting in the destruction of land records and other vital documents for four local levels within the district.
Following a cabinet decision on 13th Magh 2076 BS, the Special Survey Office Chainpur was established to resurvey and restore these records.
The Special Survey Office completed mapping and land registration tasks within Chainpur Municipality through two survey teams.
