As of Shrawan 4 this year, 73.61 percent of the total rice cultivation area in the country, equivalent to 1,011,302 hectares, has been transplanted. According to the Department of Agriculture’s data, Sudurpashchim Province leads with 90.67 percent transplanting completion, while Madhesh Province lags behind with only 57.93 percent transplanting. Compared to 72.14 percent during the same period last year, there has been slight improvement in national transplanting rates this year, although some provinces have seen a decline.
Until Monday this year, approximately 74 percent of rice transplanting has been completed nationwide. Of the total 1,373,862 hectares of rice cultivation area in Nepal, 1,011,302 hectares have been transplanted so far. This accounts for 73.61 percent of the total area. Last year, the transplanting rate was 72.14 percent at this time. Province-wise, Sudurpashchim leads in rice transplanting, whereas Madhesh, which has the highest rice cultivation area in the country, is trailing.
According to data, in Sudurpashchim Province, of the total 162,250 hectares of rice cultivation area, 147,116 hectares (90.67 percent) have been transplanted so far. However, last year by Shrawan 4, Sudurpashchim had already completed 96.99 percent transplanting. Similarly, in Madhesh Province, transplanting has been done in only 221,546 hectares out of the total 382,433 hectares, which is just 57.93 percent.
Likewise, in Koshi Province, which has a total rice cultivation area of 276,386 hectares, transplanting has been completed in 204,347 hectares, or 73.94 percent. Last year, during the same period, Koshi had a transplanting rate of only 61.71 percent. In Lumbini, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces, this year’s transplanting rate has decreased compared to last year.
