Rahul and Tenzing from Nepal’s Golf Team to Train in Thailand for Asian Games Preparation

Rahul Bishwakarma and Tenzing Chiring, members of Nepal’s national golf team, departed for Thailand’s ASA Golf Academy on Sunday to undergo specialized training. They will train under the guidance of chief coach Chris Assavapimonporn. This training is considered a crucial part of their preparation for the 20th Asian Games. Vishal Shrestha, Vice Chairman of the National Sports Council (NSC), bid farewell to both players and urged them to make the most of this training opportunity. He also extended his best wishes for their outstanding performance in the forthcoming Asian Games.

Rahul Bishwakarma stated that his primary goal at the Asian Games is to successfully clear the cut against strong competitors. The training program for Rahul, initiated by the Nepal Golf Association (NGA), has been made possible with financial support from the NSC and the Nepal Olympic Committee (NOC). Tashi Ghale, President of the NGA, expressed gratitude toward the NSC and NOC, emphasizing that the ‘Mission 2026’ program has been targeting the Asian Games preparation for the past three years. He expressed confidence that this training will greatly benefit Rahul.

Tenzing, who joined the training at the request of the Nepal Golf Association, is funding his training expenses through his family. He believes the training will provide valuable experience for the next phase of his golfing career and aims to improve his short game and scoring abilities. According to the NGA, Tenzing’s father and former national amateur golfer Tashi Chiring has also contributed to Rahul’s accommodation expenses in Thailand. Other members of the national team include Sadbhaw Acharya, currently training in the United States, and professional golfer Subash Tamang, training in India, while female golfer Tara Karki Chitrakar continues her training in Nepal.
