The US military has announced a new phase of strikes against Tehran, aimed at further degrading Iran’s capability to carry out attacks on vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. These ongoing operations, which have occurred over several consecutive nights, come as US President Donald Trump warned he would seek retribution for the deaths of American soldiers. The Pentagon has publicly identified two of the servicemen killed in recent attacks.
Following the recent deaths of three US troops—two in Jordan and one in Iraq—Trump confirmed another severe strike against Iran took place the previous night. Meanwhile, Iran claimed to have targeted positions in Bahrain, Jordan, and Syria. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that the country is now engaged in a full-scale war with the United States. Nonetheless, Tehran noted that despite the ceasefire breakdown, diplomatic communications continue between the two nations through intermediaries.
The US Department of Defense revealed the identities of two soldiers who lost their lives during weekend attacks on an American military base in Jordan. The US Central Command reported that a third soldier remains missing. On Monday evening, Jordanian forces confirmed that three Iranian missiles landed on their territory. Prior to this, Kuwaiti forces reported having intercepted Iranian drones.
Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency reported that the previous night’s attacks struck cities including Tabriz, Chabahar, Konarak, Bandar Mashehr, and Bandar Imam Khomeini. Iranian state media also reported explosions aboard two oil tankers attempting to transit the Strait of Hormuz. The US military has denied the claims made by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
