In the last fiscal year, 508,476 foreign tourists from 169 countries visited the Annapurna Conservation Area. Dr. Rabin Kadyari, the Project Chief of the Annapurna Conservation Area, reported that tourist arrivals reached a new record in the past year. The significant increase in Indian tourists, coupled with improved transportation facilities, has led to the number of visitors to this region doubling easily.
During the previous fiscal year, tourists from 169 nations explored various destinations within the Annapurna Conservation Area. Out of the total visitors, 384,145 were from South Asian countries, and 124,331 came from other countries. Indian tourists accounted for the largest share, with 375,797 visitors.
Dr. Rabin Kadyari stated that compared to fiscal year 2081/82, the number of foreign tourists more than doubled. In fiscal year 2081/82, a total of 278,113 tourists visited the Annapurna region. The growth in Indian tourists is attributed to promotional efforts in India highlighting destinations like Pokhara and Muktinath, enhanced transportation access, and widespread publicity through social media.
