According to local time, the shooting occurred around 6 p.m. as the event was winding down, forcing attendees to flee.
Eyewitness Faith Adia Hunter recounted that they had just purchased food when the gunfire suddenly erupted. Upon realizing that the shooter was nearby, they, along with others, ran toward a nearby building and sought refuge at the Seattle Children’s Museum. Another eyewitness, Roberto Ramirez, initially thought the noise was fireworks but soon recognized the scene as people began shouting ‘shooter’ and running for cover.
First established in 1982, the ‘Bite of Seattle’ is a three-day food and cultural festival that attracts approximately 350,000 participants annually, according to organizers.
