The EPS Korea branch has announced that the application process for the Korean language exam scheduled for 2026 is now open and that completing all procedures will take nearly one year.
This year, the branch has opened applications for 7,200 candidates to send workers to four regions in South Korea.
According to spokesperson Rajkishor Sah, 5,000 applicants are invited for production sectors, 2,000 for agriculture and animal husbandry, and 100 each for service and forestry sectors.
Nepal has been sending workers to Korea through the EPS program, operating under the Government-To-Government (G2G) grant system, since 2008.
Because workers go through official channels, they face lower risks and receive comparatively better salaries, making South Korea an attractive destination for Nepali workers.
Applicant Eligibility
The authorities have specified the following eligibility criteria for language exam applicants:
- Applicants must be Nepali citizens.
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old and not older than 39, i.e., born between July 28, 1986 and July 27, 2008.
- Applicants must have no criminal convictions.
- Applicants must not have been deported from South Korea for illegal residence.
- Applicants must not be restricted by the Nepalese government from traveling abroad.
- Applicants must not have stayed in South Korea on E9 or E10 visas for five or more years.
- Applicants must have the ability to distinguish colors.
Application Process
Applications for the 2026 exam will be accepted from July 27 to August 2.
Candidates must complete the online application form at https://eoers.epsnepal.gov.np.
Applicants are required to upload a scanned copy of the passport bio page (the page with the photo) while filling out the form.
Providing a valid email address and mobile number is mandatory during application submission.
A recent color passport-sized photo, taken within six months with a white background, without white clothing, and both ears visible, must be uploaded.
The exam fee is 28 US dollars, payable online on the registration day using the exchange rate set by Nepal Rastra Bank.
The exam will be held at UBT Building in Bhaisepati, Lalitpur. According to spokesperson Sah, up to 1,000 candidates can take the exam per day in five shifts.
Exam schedules are subject to change depending on the number of applicants or for other reasons.
When Will Results Be Released?
Preliminary language exam results will be published after receiving information from Korea’s Human Resources Development Service.
Candidates can check their scores on eps.go.kr and epstopik.hrdkorea.or.kr.
Once final successful candidate results are published, the certification will be valid for two years only.
Results generally arrive within 15 to 30 days, though delays can occur.
Candidates who pass the language exam must participate in further skill and competency tests as per future announcements.
Subsequent results will be released, and the branch will call for job application submissions.
Applicant lists are entered into Korean software, approved by HRD Korea, and then sent to employers.
Only those meeting the employers’ requirements will proceed to Korea once the demand arises.
Currently, about 7,000 individuals are awaiting placement in Korea, potentially going within this year. The waiting list validity is up to two years.
Preparation and Rules
- Candidates must attend the orientation at the exam center at the designated time; latecomers will not be admitted.
- No changes to exam date and location are permitted.
- On exam day, candidates must present an original valid passport and admission card; without these, participation will be denied.
- Electronic devices such as mobile phones, smartwatches, Bluetooth earphones, cassette players, PDAs, MP3 players, etc., are strictly prohibited inside the exam hall; detection will invalidate the exam.
- Candidates caught impersonating others or cheating will be banned from taking the exam for four years, and their details will be made public.
- Even if candidates pass the language exam, failure to clear health or police reports will disqualify them from submitting employment forms.
